After completing Color Theory we have begun to study value. Students have learned that VALUE is most similar to their color family MONOCHROMATIC because it uses the lights (tints) and darks (shades) of one color to show depth.

 

Using VALUE students have learned to shade objects to give them the illusion of appearing 3-D.  They can shade to acheive different values by varying the pressure they apply with a crayon or colored pencil or by adding white to a paint color gradually.
